The cult of “La Virgen del Carmen” or “Mamacha Carmen”, is expressed with colorful representations in the parade through the streets of Paucartambo town. Music, singing Quechua quoirs, and dances representing passages in the history of Peru can all be seen. On the main day, the virgin blesses the audience and casts the demons away, who perform risky stunts on the roof. There is war reenactment against the demons, a war in which the faithful win.

July 15th: Cusco – Paucartambo

(July 15th) We will leave Cusco in our private van at 8:00, we will briefly stop to visit the Chullpas of Ninamarka, Cemeteries of the Wari culture (which was the capital and name of the first known empire in the Andes). Here we will enjoy our boxed lunch, then continue to Paucartambo driving to Tres Cruces, where we will sleep.

July 16th: Paucartambo

(July 16th) If the weather allows us to, we will see the sunrise early in the morning, we will be able to see it from the Akhanacu natural balcony. We will then return head to Paucartambo to take part of the parade for the Virgen del Carmen, we will be able to see the parade of the different dances. In the afternoon we return to Cusco.
