This is an excellent 3-day alternative to the Inka Trail and offers the chance to see a nice inca complex and little traveled parts of the Andes and the Sacred Valley. Finally the way lead us to Ollantaytambo, from where we take the train to the ancient citadel of Machupicchu.

Huchuyqosqo  is an imposing piece of ancient architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, from where we enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, and the snow capped mountains – the highest peaks of the Andes.

DAY 1: CUSCO - TAUQAQ - PUCAMARCA
Early morning we pick you up from hotel, we pass along Cachimayo until Chinchero, then we continue our journey to Tauqaq, village located in the border of Piuray Lagoon, here the group star to trek.
We walk for 3 hours to Tauqaq Pass (4,000 meters), here we see the mountain ranges to the south of Ausangate, Veronika, Pitusiray and Sahuasiray snowy peaks. Finally, we walk down to the community of Pucamarca situated at 4010 meters/13,156 feet above sea level, where we camp for night.

DAY 2: PUCAMARCA - HUCHUYQOSQO - LAMAY - OLLANTAYTAMBO
After breakfast we follow the remains of an ancient Inkan bridge and trail. This canyon is surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders at which will arrive in the mid-morning. Huchuy Qosqo is an Inkan archaeological complex with imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, from which we can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, and the snow-capped Vilcanota mountain range. At the Huchuy Qosqo complex, we will enjoy a guided tour, after which we will have lunch, and then we will continue on our way to Lamay at 3000 meters/9,853 feet above sea level. From Lamay, we will travel to the village of Ollantaytambo by private bus, and spend the evening there in a hostel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 3: OLLANTAYTAMBO - MACHUPICCHU
After breakfast, we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, and then the bus up to Machupucchu – the lost city of the Inkas. We will enjoy a 3-hour guided tour of the ancient sanctuary-city, and there is an optional hike, for the more energetic people in the group, to the top pf Huaynapicchu, the pyramid-shaped mountain that overlooks Machupicchu. Afterwards, we'll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where we can enjoy a relaxing soak in the local hot springs. Later in the afternoon, we'll take the 3:55pm train back to Cusco, and arrive in Cusco at approximately 8:30pm. From the train station we will transfer you by private bus to your hotel. Breakfast included.
